From Lucca to Pisa 🇮🇹

My journey through “Cities I Have Visited” continues – this time taking me from Lucca to Pisa.

When you think of Pisa, the first thing that probably comes to mind is the Leaning Tower. But the Piazza del Duomo has much more to offer: the magnificent cathedral, the baptistery, and the Camposanto create one of Italy’s most impressive architectural ensembles.

For my urban sketch, I didn’t want to focus only on the famous tower. I was especially fascinated by the combination of different buildings, shapes, colors, and architectural details. Of course, the Leaning Tower had to be there too. 😉

Using loose lines, ink, and watercolor, I tried to capture this familiar place from my own perspective. And perhaps the perspective is allowed to be a little playful – after all, Pisa itself isn’t exactly straight. 😄

Another place, another travel memory – and another little piece of Italy on my paper.
